Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Shabash Mitthu’ is inspired by the life of Mithali Raj, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team. Mithali is considered an icon not only in India but also in international women’s cricket.

Taapsee played her character with great honesty. However, the reviews of the film were not very strong. This film also proved to be a disaster at the box office.

Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor’s film Mr. and Mrs. Mahi is one of the few successful films that shows a woman playing cricket.

In the film, Rajkumar is a failed cricketer, whose wife Jhanvi Kapoor is very interested in cricket. In the story, this husband starts giving cricket coaching to his wife and furthers her cricketing career.

‘Kana’, made on women’s cricket, is a powerful film. While women’s cricket itself has had a long struggle to garner its share of fans, director Arunraja Kamaraj had written the story of this film long ago. He told the story to his friend, Shiva Karthikeyan, a young star of the Tamil film industry. Shiva himself entered into production with this film and took it forward.

‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ is a romantic comedy and sports based film, in which a young cricket-loving girl Veera (Rani Mukherjee) disguises herself as a boy and joins a cricket team. The film is directed by Anurag Singh and stars Shahid Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Anupam Kher and Rakhi Sawant.

This film of Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher, released in the year 2023, could not attract much crowd in the theatres, but the viewers found this story very powerful. ‘Ghoomar’ was the story of a cricketer who is a brilliant batsman. But she loses one hand in a dangerous accident.
