Padma awards announced for many players including Rohit Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur
The Central Government announced the Padma Awards on the eve of the 77th Republic Day. It was announced to give Padma Shri award to Rohit Sharma, who led the Indian cricket team to the title of T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025 under his captaincy. Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has also been announced to be awarded the Padma Shri award. Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, Indian women’s cricket won the ODI World Cup title for the first time. The Indian team won the World Cup title by defeating South Africa on 2 November 2025. Former tennis player Vijay Amritraj was honored with Padma Bhushan. Padma Shri awards were announced to Baldev Singh, Bhagwandas Raikar, Praveen Kumar, Savita Punia, and Vladimir Mestavirishvili (posthumously).
