BNP alliance candidate Israt Sultana Ellen Bhutto got 1,13,199 votes from Jhalakathi-2. He defeated SM Neyamul Karim. Tehsina Rushdir, wife of BNP leader M Ilyas Ali, won from Sylhet-2 by 79,321 votes. He has defeated Muhammad Muntasir Ali of Bangladesh Khilafat Majsil.
Independent candidate Rumin Farhana from Brahmanbaria-2 got 117,495 votes. He has won this election. Apart from this, BNP candidate Farzana Sharmin has won in Natore-1, BNP candidate Shama Obaid Islam has won in Faridpur-2 and BNP candidate Nayaab Yusuf Ahmed has won in Faridpur-3.
There were 84 women candidates in the fray, 4% of the total candidates.
A total of 84 women candidates were in the fray this time. This figure was only 4 percent of the total number of candidates. Of these, 66 contested the elections as party candidates and 19 as independent candidates. Apart from these, a transgender candidate was also in the electoral fray. Out of 84 women candidates, 64 i.e. 75% were graduates or post graduates. Most of them were women aged between 25 to 39 years. There were 32 candidates among them. About 67% of the women candidates were employed.
