A third front has been formed for the Bihar Assembly elections (2025). After AIMIM was not included in the grand alliance, Asaduddin Owaisi’s party has formed an alliance with Chandrashekhar Azad’s party ‘Azad Samaj’ and Swami Prasad Maurya’s ‘Apni Janata Party’ for Bihar elections.
The alliance has been named ‘Grand Democratic Alliance’. AIMIM State President Akhtarul Iman said in a press conference held in Kishanganj on Wednesday (October 15, 2025) that AIMIM will contest on 35 seats while Azad Samaj Party will contest on 25 seats and Swami Prasad Maurya’s Apni Janata Party will contest on four seats. Now it remains to be seen how much loss this alliance causes to other parties in the elections.
Elections have to be fought on limited seats only
Akhtarul Iman said that increase or decrease in seats will not happen unless the constituent parties agree among themselves. This has been decided in writing. In response to a question, he said that our national president has said that we should contest elections on limited seats. Fight where we have already worked.
The candidates have not been announced. On this, Akhtarul Iman said that the last date for nomination is 17th October. The party is having its own meeting. The announcement will be made only after that. The matter is that big parties have to prepare lists of more people. There is no separate date for them.
Akhtarul Iman said that our real fight is not to gain power but to maintain justice in the country. He said that the names of the candidates will be announced by late evening tomorrow (Thursday). The names of the candidates have been selected. Azad Samaj Party State President Johar Azad, State Secretary Vikram Kumar, District President Wasim Akram Khan, State Spokesperson Adil Hasan etc. were present in the press conference.
