This all-rounder will replace Harshit Rana in the 2027 World Cup! Sent a strong message to the Chief Selector

The names of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been much discussed regarding the 2027 World Cup. Everyone is curious to know whether Rohit and Kohli will play the next World Cup or not. Meanwhile, a fast bowler has staked his claim to play in the World Cup after two years. This is none other than Shardul Thakur, who says that along with bowling fast, he can also bat at number 8. Let us tell you that no white ball matches have been played after October 2023.

Speaking to the media after Mumbai vs Chhattisgarh match in Ranji Trophy, Shardul Thakur said, “It is very important for me to keep performing well, so that I can make a comeback in Team India. Good performance will help me in Team India selection. ODI World Cup is going to be held in South Africa, so I felt that the number 8 spot could be vacant for a bowling all-rounder. My eyes are on this sequence.”

Shardul Thakur is currently captaining the Mumbai team in Ranji Trophy. Talking about number-8 in the ODI team, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana are already in the race for it. Harshit was seen batting at number 8 in the ODI series against Australia. Somewhere it can be said that Thakur has staked his claim on the number for which Harshit Rana is being prepared.

On the other hand, Thakur says that he is ready to return to international cricket. He clearly said that if he is asked to play an international match tomorrow, he will be ready for it. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and his committee will decide who to give a chance and who not. Still, Thakur has definitely given them a clear message.

Shardul Thakur played his last ODI match in the 2023 World Cup. But after that he has been continuously ignored by the white ball teams. In the same year, he was included in the Test team for the England tour, but was not given a chance in the Test series against West Indies.
