India’s domestic one-day tournament i.e. Vijay Hazare Trophy started on Wednesday. A total of 22 centuries were scored on the very first day of the 2025-26 season. Bihar made the biggest score in the history of List A cricket. Whereas Saqibul Ghani scored the fastest century of Vijay Hazare Trophy by scoring a century in 32 balls. Swastik Samal of Odisha played an inning of 212 runs. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also scored centuries. Meanwhile a name started being discussed. That name is N Jagadeesan. This name is being discussed because this batsman holds the record of playing the biggest innings in a List A match i.e. 50 overs.
The record of playing the biggest innings in the history of List A cricket is in the name of Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper batsman N Jagadeesan. Jagadishan had played a record innings of 277 runs in 141 balls against Arunachal Pradesh on 21 November 2022. In this record list, Eddie Brown (268 runs) is at second place and Rohit Sharma (264 runs) is at third place.
Saqibul Ghani’s fastest century
Bihar captain Saqibul Ghani completed his century in 32 balls on Wednesday, the fastest century by an Indian in men’s List A cricket. On Wednesday itself, Jharkhand captain Ishan Kishan scored a century in 33 balls. Whereas Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Bihar scored a century in 36 balls. Vaibhav played a stormy innings of 190 runs.
It happened for the first time ever in history
This is the first time in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy, when 3 batsmen have scored centuries in an innings. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, captain Saqibul Ghani and Ayush Anand scored centuries for Bihar team. All three had completed their respective centuries in less than 50 balls, this is also a big record. Bihar scored a huge score of 574 runs, which is the highest team total in List A cricket.
