India’s two-wheeler market remained at full speed in September 2025. Sales figures reached new highs due to the festive season, new model launches and GST 2.0 reforms. The two-wheeler segment registered a growth of 6.3% this month with total sales of 14,62,687 units. Let us know in detail.

GST 2.0 reforms boost sales

  • GST 2.0 reforms implemented from 22 September 2025 gave a big boost to the two-wheeler industry. Now the tax on bikes and scooters up to 350cc has been reduced from 28% to 18%. This is the same category in which the country’s best selling motorcycles and scooters fall. The effect of tax reduction was immediately visible – the crowd of customers in showrooms increased and festival sales got a new boost. Bike manufacturers like Hero, Honda, TVS, Suzuki and Bajaj got the opportunity to create new sales records in the month of September.

Hero Splendor again becomes number 1 bike

  • Hero Splendor once again won the top position, with a total of 3.82 lakh units sold, it achieved 26% market share. Hero MotoCorp has recently crossed the sales mark of 125 million units and on this occasion the company has also launched special editions of Splendor+, Passion+ and Vida VX2. Affordable price, reliable mileage and low maintenance cost still make Splendor the first choice of common people.

Activa faced tough competition

  • The sales of Honda Activa, which has been ruling the scooter category for a long time, have declined slightly this time, but TVS Jupiter and Suzuki Access 125 have taken advantage of this decline. Customers are now increasingly leaning towards better mileage, stylish design and features like Bluetooth, digital console. TVS Jupiter has made impressive returns and Suzuki Access has also registered double digit growth in sales.

Heat in performance bike segment too

  • The demand for sports and performance bikes is continuously increasing among the youth. Bikes like Bajaj Pulsar and TVS Apache have once again shown a strong hold in this segment. Bajaj has attracted the youth with its new design and features in its Pulsar series, while the Apache RTR series remains popular due to its sporty engine and advanced riding modes. Although both of them lagged behind commuter bikes like Splendor in sales figures, the growth trend remained positive.

Festive season gave new energy to the market

  • The arrival of the festive season has further intensified the two-wheeler market. Sales are expected to increase further in October and November due to bank offers, finance schemes and discounts. Many companies are planning to launch new models and bring special festive editions in the coming weeks. Market experts believe that the combination of GST relief and festive shopping has brought India’s two-wheeler industry back on pace.

Lessons of September 2025

  • September 2025 has once again proved that the popularity of two-wheelers can never end in India – be it mileage bikes or premium scooters. While Splendor won the hearts of people with its reliability and mileage, bikes like Activa and Pulsar maintained a strong hold in their respective segments. This month is a signal for the two-wheeler industry that the bike craze on Indian roads is still intact and will increase further in the coming months.
