Former England and Kent cricketer Susie Wilson-Rowe has revealed that she is battling stage-4 lung cancer (Exon 20 non-small cell lung cancer). 38-year-old Susie’s cancer has spread to her spine and lymph nodes. Giving information about her illness, Susie, who played 23 T20 matches for England, said that she wants people to understand the signals of their body in time and not delay in getting tested.
Identification of disease during pregnancy
Susie told that it all started when she was about to give birth to her son Jack. He was constantly feeling pain near his ribs and shoulders. Initially it was ignored as a minor muscle strain, but Susie insisted on getting tested again and again. Doctors eventually found a tumor in his lungs, and subsequent tests revealed that the cancer had spread to other parts of the body.
Susie wrote on social media, “When the body says something, don’t ignore it. Getting tested early can save life.”

London-born Susie Wilson-Rowe started her cricket career with Kent Under-11 team. She played 79 matches for Kent Women’s team and played a key role in winning the County Championship title five times between 2006 and 2012. Apart from this, she also won the National Women’s T20 Trophy with the team in 2011 and 2012.
At the international level, Susi played 23 T20 International matches for England between 2011 and 2013. She retired in 2021, but even after this she remained associated with the game by training young players and acting as a mentor.
