In the 1990s, when a Bollywood romantic drama, crime thriller and comedy entertainer was busy, a family drama film came and caused havoc at the box office. The film was more than 135 weeks in many theaters, 14 songs and 3 hours 26 minutes long. About 135 million tickets were sold, and with this it also made a record of the first Bollywood film to earn Rs 100 crore.

This is not a Ghajni film, Bollywood’s first 100 crores
Aamir Khan’s “Ghajini”, which came in 2008, was being described as the first Bollywood film to join the Rs 100 crore club. However, according to DNA report, 14 years before ‘Ghajini’, Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit starrer “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun” was the first 100 crore rupees in Bollywood.

On 5 August 1994, director Suraj Barjatya brought his second directed film ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’. The film was his second film with Salman Khan after ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ (1989). In this film, she repeated most of the actors of “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun”, except the lead actress. After giving Bhagyashree a successful start, Suraj formed the pair of Madhuri Dixit with Salman.

Made in a minor budget of Rs 6 crore, this film had collected a net box office collection of Rs 72.5 crore in India. Its gross box office collection from India was Rs 117 crore and it also earned Rs 11 crore from abroad, due to which its earnings increased to Rs 128 crore.

The film celebrated its Golden Jubilee (for 50 weeks) across India and lasted 100+ weeks with the Housefull Board for months. ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’ did what was no less than a miracle at the box office.
