Veteran film actor Dharmendra died on November 24 last year, just 15 days before his 90th birthday. The senior actor was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai in late October after he complained of breathing problems. After the demise of Dharmendra, Deol family Sunny and Bobby and their mother Prakash Kaur organized a prayer meeting at Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai on 27 November. On the same day, Hema Malini had organized puja and bhajan at her home in Mumbai. Hema Malini and her daughters, Isha and Ahana, were not present at the Deol family’s prayer meet.
Later, Hema Malini organized another prayer meeting for Dharmendra in New Delhi on 11 December. After separate prayer meetings, speculations had intensified regarding the mutual relations between Dharmendra’s two families. Hema Malini recently spoke openly on this issue in an interview.
What did Hema Malini say on Dharmendra’s separate prayer meeting?,
During an interview with Times of India, Hema Malini said about Dharmendra organizing separate prayer meetings, “This is a personal matter in our house. We talked among ourselves. I held a prayer meeting at my house because my colleagues are different people. Then, I held a prayer meeting in Delhi because I am in politics, and it was important for me to hold a prayer meeting there for my friends from the political field. Mathura is my constituency, and the people there are also their People are crazy, so I organized a prayer meeting there too, I am happy with what I did.
Salman Khan, Rekha, Vidya Balan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and many other celebrities were present at the prayer meeting of the Deol family. Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Kiren Rijiju, Om Birla, Kangana Ranaut, Ranjeet, Anil Sharma and other politicians and film personalities attended the prayer meeting held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, Delhi.
There is no rift between Prakash Kaur and Sunny Bobby
In the same interview, Hema Malini was asked whether Dharmendra’s farmhouse in Lonavala could be converted into a museum for his fans? To this the veteran actress replied that Sunny Deol is planning something similar. After this he dismissed the rumors of rift with Dharmendra’s first wife Prakash Kaur and his children. He said, “Everything is going well. So there is no need to worry that these are two different families, who knows what will happen. No one needs to worry so much, we are all fine.”
The family was hoping for Dharmendra’s recovery.
During the same interview, Hema Malini told that they were all hoping for Dharamji’s recovery and to celebrate his 90th birthday with the family. “It was an unbearable shock. It was very scary because for a month we struggled with him being ill. Whatever was happening in the hospital, we were constantly trying to deal with it. We were all there – I, Isha, Ahana, Sunny, Bobby were all there. There had been times before when he had gone to the hospital and we thought he was fine.”
The family was preparing to celebrate Dharmendra’s 90th birthday.
An emotional Hema Malini further said, “He was talking to us nicely. He even wished me on my birthday (October 16). His birthday was on December 8, when he was turning 90, and we were thinking of celebrating it well. Preparations were going on, and then suddenly, he left us.”

Hema Malini is returning to work
Recovering from this personal loss, Hema Malini is returning to work with new determination. She said, “I am now resuming my work. I am going to Mathura. I will start my performances, shows, and whatever work I have, I will keep doing it because Dharamji will be happy with it.”
