The job of a Supreme Court judge is to protect the Constitution of the country, give the final interpretation of the law and ensure justice in even the biggest cases. How much more is its salary than that of IAS-IPS?
The starting basic salary of an IAS or IPS officer is around Rs 56,100 per month and after adding allowances, the total salary reaches around Rs 85,000 to Rs 1 lakh. At the same time, even after reaching the highest level of career, an IAS officer (Cabinet Secretary) gets a maximum fixed salary of Rs 2.50 lakh per month. In comparison, the Supreme Court judge gets a salary of around Rs 2.50 lakh and the Chief Justice gets around Rs 2.80 lakh per month, that is, the salary of a Supreme Court judge is almost three times more than the starting salary of IAS-IPS officers.
