Such cases often come up in medical science, which also surprise doctors. One such rare and shocking case came up from Nagpur in Maharashtra, where a man was pregnant with twins for more than 36 years. This rare medical condition is known as Fatus in Fatu.
This case is related to Sanju Bhagat of Nagpur, whose stomach was slightly bloated than normal children since childhood. The family did not pay much attention to this in the beginning, but as Sanju grew up, his stomach increased abnormally. His stomach had swollen so much that people started calling him as a pregnant man.
Around 1999, Sanju’s condition started deteriorating. The increasing size of his stomach started putting pressure on his diaphragm, causing him to have serious difficulty in breathing. Eventually, he was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai.
Doctors are also shocked
Initially, doctors felt that Sanju has a big tumor in his stomach, which is growing rapidly. He decided to perform the operation. When Dr. Ajay Mehta and his team started the operation of Sanju, they were stunned to see the inside view. There was no tumor inside the abdomen, but a partially developed human fetus. Doctors said that when they put their hands in their stomach, they felt bones. During the operation, he took out several parts of the human body one by one, including bones, hair, jaw and other parts of the body. This scene was so unusual that the doctors were also shocked.
What is Fatus in feet?
Fatus in feet is a very rare congenital condition. This occurs when a monozygotic (made of the same fetus). In twin pregnancy, a fetus is fully developed, while the other fetus remains underdeveloped for some reason and merges inside the body of its own developed twin. This underdeveloped embryo is usually found in the stomach of a living child or sometimes in any other part of the body. It receives blood supply from its host fetus (host feet), but has no functional brain, heart or other important organs of its own.
Sanju Bhagat’s case was an extraordinary example of survival with this situation for 36 years, which created curiosity in the medical world. This phenomenon is one of the mysteries of science that makes us think about the human body and its complexities. Sanju was successfully operated, after which he became healthy.
