Rbi cheque clearance rule: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced a new check clearance system for bank account holders, which will be implemented from 4 October 2025. Under the new system, now your check will be cleared in just one day, so that customers will not need to wait for several days. According to RBI, now checks will be cleared in a few hours.

RBI said that the bank will use CTS (check tranquil system) feature to clear the check in one day. In this system, if you deposit any check in the bank, the bank will send its scan copy to the concerned bank. The concerned bank will have to accept or reject it within the stipulated time.
If the correct date in the check, the name and amount of the payment is filled correctly and your current signature in the signature bank, then your check will be cleared on the same day. The RBI also informed that the check will be rejected by considering any type of overwriting.
RBI will start in 2 stages
According to RBI, the check clearance system will be implemented in two stages. The first phase will start from 4 October 2025 and it will run till 3 January 2026. In this phase, after depositing the check in the bank, the concerned bank will have to accept or reject it by 7 pm.
The second phase will start from 3 January 2026, in which the RBI will reduce the fixed limit to clear the check to only 3 hours. This will make customers a big facility, because earlier it took 2-3 days to clear the check, which led to many problems.
