Connecting a pen drive to several different computers or laptops can also be risky, especially if the antivirus in those systems is not updated. Viruses or malware can silently damage your files. Many times files are visible but do not open, this can be a sign of virus attack.
Overload and wrong storage problem
Often people fill the full capacity of the pen drive. Constantly maintaining full storage can affect the performance of the device and increases the risk of data corruption. Apart from this, keeping the pen drive in hot place, dust or moisture is also harmful. This is an electronic device which needs to be handled with care.

The biggest negligence is that people do not keep a second backup of important data. If a pen drive suddenly gets damaged, data recovery can be difficult and expensive. Therefore, it is wise to save important documents on cloud storage or hard drive also.
