The state government has given a big gift to the youth who served the country as Agniveer. Now former firefighters will get special age relaxation during recruitment in government jobs, due to which their job opportunities will increase manifold compared to before. While issuing the notification, the government made it clear that at the time of direct recruitment on all Group-B and Group-C posts of the state, former firefighters will be given a relaxation of three years in the age limit. Along with this, the first batch which returns first from the Army will get the benefit of additional 5 years of age relaxation.
To implement this order, the government has issued instructions to all departments, boards, corporations, universities and regional offices. This will ensure that the participation of Agniveers in government jobs will increase in the coming times.
The state government says that this is not just a change in the recruitment rule, but an important initiative related to the respect and rehabilitation of former firefighters. The government believes that the youth returning after completing four years of service in the army are the most disciplined and trained citizens of the country. They have very high leadership qualities, ability to take decisions in difficult situations and level of discipline. In such a situation, it is very important for them to get proper opportunities in government services.
Agniveer Policy 2024 was implemented
Keeping this thinking in mind, the state government had implemented Agniveer Policy 2024 last year. Under this policy, Agniveer will be given reservation in government and private jobs, easy loans will be made available to become self-reliant and will also be exempted from the requirement of Common Eligibility Test (CET). It is clear from this that the government is not just preparing the firefighters for jobs, but wants to make them strong candidates in every field.
When will the first batch retire?
This policy of Agniveers will become especially important in the coming years as thousands of youth of Haryana will return from the army in the coming years. Till now, more than seven thousand youth of the state have been recruited in the three armies, land, water and air, under the Agniveer scheme. Among these, maximum 2,893 Agniveers were recruited during 2023-24. Now their first batch will retire in July 2026 and as soon as they retire, the doors of the state government will open for them with new jobs.
Reservation in government departments
The state government has also made it clear in its policy that fire fighters will get reservation in many government departments. A provision of 10 percent horizontal reservation has been made in the recruitment of police, mining guard, jail warden and SPO. Apart from this, firefighters will get 5 percent reservation on direct recruitment to Group-C posts. This means that whether it is a government department or a police force, job opportunities for fire fighters are going to become easier to a great extent.
