This team announced the names of players for the Women’s T20 World Cup, Indu Burma was made the captain.

Nepal Cricket announced a 15-member team for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, the command of which has been handed over to Indu Burma. Pooja Mahato has been made the vice-captain. This tournament will be held in Nepal from 18 January to 1 February.

The host Nepal team is preparing for an important qualifying campaign in home conditions. Apart from Nepal, teams from Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Thailand, USA and Zimbabwe will participate in the Global Qualifier, which have been divided into two groups of five each. The top three teams of each group will reach the Super Six round, from where the top four teams will qualify for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, Nepal team will face Thailand on 18 January, while on 22 January it will face Netherlands. Zimbabwe will face Nepal on January 24. This team will face Scotland on 26 January. The Super-6 stage of the qualifiers is to be played between January 28 and February 1.

Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is to be played in England and Wales in June, in which a total of 12 teams will participate.

So far eight teams have qualified for this World Cup. These include Australia, India, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan and Sri Lanka along with England. The remaining four places will be decided through the Global Qualifying Tournament.

It is noteworthy that the first Women’s T20 World Cup was held in England in 2009, where the host team won the title by defeating New Zealand. Australia dominated the next three editions in 2010, 2012 and 2014. West Indies broke this sequence in the year 2016. Australia re-established its dominance by winning three consecutive titles in 2018, 2020 and 2023. In the year 2024, New Zealand won the trophy by defeating South Africa in the final.
