Bihar Assembly elections 2025 have gradually reached their decisive phase. The nomination process for the first phase is almost complete and now all the parties are busy in the campaign with full force. Voting will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, while the results will be declared on November 14. This time the contest is not only between the NDA and the Grand Alliance, but a third force has also entered the political arena, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party. According to political analysts, this election hinges on three major factors, which are M (women voters), D (Dalit voters), and PK (Prashant Kishore).
In the last two decades, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has taken many steps to empower women. His schemes have brought change in the lives of lakhs of families. Efforts like cycle scheme, uniform scheme and reservation in government jobs advanced both the education and employment of women. Chief Minister Mahila Rozgar Yojana (M3RY), launched in recent months, has also provided relief to economically weaker women. M3RY under which Rs 10,000 was given to women from eligible families. Till August, this amount has been transferred to 7.5 million women.
The second installment was released just hours before the code of conduct came into effect in October, taking the benefit to a total of more than 10 million women. Nearly one crore women benefited from the release of the second installment just before the elections. Political experts believe that this women’s support can become a big base for NDA. There are approximately 3.5 crore women voters in the state, whose inclination can decisively influence the results.
Dalit voters will remain the center of elections
Dalit community has always played an important role in the politics of Bihar. This time too his inclination may decide the direction of power. Two prominent Dalit leaders like Jitan Ram Manjhi and Chirag Paswan are with the NDA, which is expected to directly benefit the alliance. On the other hand, the grand alliance led by Tejashwi Yadav and Congress is also trying to attract Dalit votes. In the rallies of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, emphasis is being laid on issues related to Dalit society. Now the question is whether the Dalit community will remain with the NDA or will it give priority to the Grand Alliance in the name of social justice.
Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party starts new politics
Prashant Kishore is now in the role of a leader instead of a strategist. His Jan Suraj Party has set up an organization by going from village to village within three years. He has created a distinct identity among the youth and the educated class by talking about development and policy-based politics. According to an internal survey of BJP, Jan Suraj Party can get around 13 to 15 percent vote share. This vote percentage is so much that it can completely change the mathematics of the results. If his party gets enough seats, the chances of a hung assembly in Bihar Assembly elections 2025 may also increase. In such a situation, Prashant Kishore can play a decisive role for any alliance.
Political suspense increased regarding the post of Chief Minister
The face for the post of Chief Minister has not been decided yet by NDA. The recent statement of Home Minister Amit Shah has created new speculations on this subject. He said that “the Chief Minister will be selected by the legislative party.” After this statement, the discussion has intensified that if NDA gets majority, will Nitish Kumar become the Chief Minister again or will BJP bring forward a new face. According to political experts, BJP’s long-term goal is “Project Bihar”, i.e. forming a government with its absolute majority in the state.
