The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has finally released the final datesheet of the board examinations for the year 2026. Now the long wait of the students is over. Board examinations for class 10th and 12th will start from 17 February 2026. The examinations of class 10th will continue till 10th March and the examinations of class 12th will continue till 9th April 2026. All papers will start from 10:30 am and will continue till 12:30 or 1:30 pm depending on the subject. Let us tell you when there will be other papers along with important subjects like Maths-Science.
10th board exam will be held twice
CBSE has made the biggest change this year by announcing that from session 2026, board exams for class 10th will be conducted twice a year. This decision has been taken under the New Education Policy (NEP 2020). Its purpose is to reduce the pressure on the students and to give them better opportunities so that they can score better by appearing in the examination twice.
The board had released the tentative date sheet for the first time on 24 September 2025 so that students and schools can start their preparations on time. Now that all the schools have sent the information about their subject combinations, the board has released the final datesheet about 110 days before the exam.
Class 10th main exams
- 17th February – Maths (Standard/Basic)
- February 21 – English (Communicative/Language and Literature)
- February 25 – Science
- March 2 – Hindi (Course A/B)
- March 7 – Social Science
- March 10 – French/other foreign languages
At the same time, examinations of other subjects like Computer Application, Home Science and Skill subjects will be held intermittently.
Class 12th main exams
- 17 February – Biotechnology, Entrepreneurship
- February 20 – Physics
- February 28 – Chemistry
- March 12 – English (English Elective/Core)
- 16 March – Hindi (Hindi Elective/Core)
- March 18 – Economics
- March 23 – Political Science
- March 27 – Biology
- March 28 – Business Studies
- March 30 – History
- April 4 – Sociology
- April 9 – Data Science / Multimedia / Textile Design
