Amitabh Bachchan says in the video, “It has been 46 years since ‘Sholay’ was made, but it doesn’t seem that so much time has passed for the film. My first scene of this film was with Jaya and I had to give her the keys. This scene was shot with great difficulty. But the shooting days were quite memorable. In those days there was a lot of brotherhood among all of us. Dharam ji used to sleep under the open sky when the shooting got late. He used to stay lying there in some hut and used to say – there is sky outside, it is wide open. Both of us used to come to the shooting in the same car.
Dharmendra adopted this trick to avoid the crowd
Big B further said, ‘Once a very strange incident happened. Once we were going for shooting and our car broke down on the way. Then three-four thousand people came to see Dharam ji. I was quite nervous. I asked him what to do now, he said, nothing will happen, you come with me. We both got down from the car and sat in an auto. Then we went from Bangalore to Ramgarh in the same auto. But we had a lot of fun.
Dharmendra made Hema Malini ride a bicycle But
Hema Malini also shared an interesting anecdote of Dharmendra during this time. The actress told, ‘Dharam ji used to do some mischief on the set. Once there was a train crossing in Jaipur. So the gate was closed. But Dharam ji did not want to wait. In such a situation, he asked a man for a bicycle and told me to sit. Then we went to the further path on the bicycle..’ The actress said that initially ‘Sholay’ had not even started. I was quite surprised to see this.
