Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given a big statement on terrorism on Friday (January 16, 2026). He said that Pakistan is fully committed to defeating terrorism. This threat of extremism will be thrown into the Indian Ocean.
Shehbaz Sharif made this statement on Friday (January 16, 2026) during a meeting with senior religious leaders representing the National Message-e-Aman Committee. He said, ‘We are determined to defeat terrorism and with the support of the public, we will throw it into the Indian Ocean.’
More than 1 lakh Pakistanis died due to terrorism- Sharif
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that terrorists have the support of Pakistan’s enemies. He also said that more than one lakh Pakistani citizens have been killed so far due to terrorism and the international community should accept these huge sacrifices of Pakistan.
Mentioned military conflict with India
Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif tried to praise himself by mentioning India’s Operation Sindoor and military conflict with Pakistan. He said that last year in May 2025, Pakistan demonstrated its strength during the four-day conflict with India.
Pakistan is rich in natural resources- Shahbaz
Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is rich in natural resources, whose value is in trillions of dollars. If these resources are exploited effectively, then problems like poverty and unemployment can be controlled in the country. He said that if we make proper use of these hidden treasures, all our problems can end.
Committee condemned TTP and Afghan Taliban
This committee of religious leaders in Pakistan was formed last year to fight against extremism, hate speech, terrorism and communalism in the country. The committee has strongly condemned both Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Afghan Taliban. The committee has also stressed that there is no justification for terrorism under any circumstances. PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope that this committee will play an important role in strengthening the national discourse against extremism and terrorism.
