Time 100 Philantropy 2025 List: Time magazine has released the list of its 2025 “100 most influential philanthropists”. In this list of this time, people from all over the world have been selected, who used money, thoughts and influences to change the society. Among them, four names from India have especially caught attention, that is Mukesh Ambani, Neeta Ambani, Azim Premji and Nikhil Kamat.
Legendary names included in the global list
Many impressive names of the world have been included in this list. Former footballer David Beckham has been honored for advocating social change. Michael Bloomberg has been described as the largest donor of 2024. OPRA Winfrey is included for her contribution to women’s education, while Melinda French Gates and Warren Buffett are included to create their continuous efforts and the definition of modern philanthropy.
Azim Premji in ‘Titans’ category
Azim Premji, Indian industrialist and founder of Wipro, has been included in the ‘Titans’ category. Time has appreciated him for his efforts to change India’s education system. Premji was the first Indian to sign “Giving Pledge” in 2013, that is, he pledged to give more than half of his assets for social service.
His made Azim Premji Foundation has so far received a share of more than $ 29 billion. This foundation is working across the country through 59 field offices and 263 teacher learning centers. In 2023–24, the Foundation assisted $ 109 million to 940 organizations. Apart from this, the Foundation has also launched scholarship programs for girls, installation of university campus related to public health and education and 480 child care centers.
Mukesh Ambani and Neeta Ambani also included in the list
Mukesh Ambani and Neeta Ambani have also been included in this list. Ambani couple donated Rs 407 crore in 2024. He used this donation to empower millions of people in areas like education, health and rural development.
Nikhil Kamat in ‘Trailblazers’, the youngest Indian Giving Play Sineer
Zerodha’s co-founder Nikhil Kamat is placed in the category of ‘Trailblazers’. He signed “GIVING PLEDGE” at the age of 36 and was one of the youngest philanthropists in India. Kamat has invested several million dollars in many projects related to environment and education.
He also started “Young India Philantropic Pledge (YIPP)”, which appeals to India’s millionaires under 45 years of age to donate at least 25 percent of his assets. Kamat Brothers together have contributed more than $ 100 million through the Rainmatter Foundation. YIPP has so far raised $ 8 million and provided better computer, career counseling and facilities to 300 schools.
