Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress (TMC) has fiercely attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to West Bengal. He has strongly targeted the action taken against Bengali speaking people in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled states including Delhi. At the same time, Trinamool Congress has also demanded action against many people including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding this matter.

In fact, Trinamool Congress shared several posts on social media platform X on Saturday (January 17, 2026) regarding PM Modi’s visit. In the post, TMC said that Political Tourist Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a long speech on restoring the lost glorious heritage of Bengal.

TMC demanded action against these people
The party said that if you’re so passionate about your fake transformation, you should start with this:
- Take action against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, under whom Delhi Police declared Bengali language as the language of Bangladesh.
- Take action against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT chief Amit Malviya, who claimed that Bengali is not a language.
- Take action against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who threatened people for writing Bengali in the census form and singing Kaviguru ka Amaar Sonar Bangla.
- Additionally, take action against the Chief Ministers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled states where Bengali migrant workers are hunted down, harassed, detained, deported and even murdered.
Don’t preach Bengal on pride and dignity- TMC
Targeting Prime Minister Modi, Trinamool Congress (TMC) said that when your entire ecosystem is criminalizing our language, culture, identity and existence, then do not preach to Bengal on dignity and pride.
