Sheikh shahjahan cbi fir: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially filed an FIR against Sheikh Shah Jahan in West Bengal’s much talked about 2019 Sandesh Sandesh Violence case. The case is related to the murder of three BJP workers (Pradeep Mandal, Devdas Mandal and Sukant Mandal), who was killed during the violence after the Lok Sabha elections 2019.
Preliminary investigation was handed over to Kolkata Police
Initial investigation of this case was done by the state police. However, the victim families moved to the court for justice and demanded the CBI inquiry. Following the court’s directive, the CBI investigated the case and now an FIR has been filed and the investigation has been formalized. Sheikh Shah Jahan, who is currently in judicial custody in other messages, has been made the main accused.
Why did the court order CBI inquiry?
The Kolkata High Court has said in its order that the police investigation was seriously negligent and the main accused was illegally dropped from the charge sheet, which is a huge lapse in justice. The court expressed deep displeasure over this and said that to maintain the confidence of the victim’s family and the general public, the investigation of the matter is now being handed over to the independent agency CBI instead of the police.
However, the court admitted that some evidence has been collected in the earlier investigation, so a complete investigation could affect the credibility of the evidence. For this reason, the court has directed that the CBI will conduct further investigation into the matter so that the justice process remains transparent and fair.
