Singer James’s concert in Faridpur, about 120 km from Dhaka, was canceled in the wake of attacks on artists and cultural institutions in Bangladesh. According to local reports, the event was to be held at 9:00 pm on Friday night to commemorate a school anniversary. The attackers tried to forcibly enter the venue and threw bricks and stones at the crowd.

He further said, “Siraj Ali Khan had come to Dhaka a few days ago. He is the grandson of Ali Akbar Khan, son of the world famous Ustad Alauddin Khan. Siraj Ali Khan himself is an eminent artist of the Maihar Gharana. He returned to India without performing any program in Dhaka and said that he will not come to Bangladesh until the artistes, music and cultural institutions are safe.”
Taslima Nasreen said, “Two days ago, Ustad Rashid Khan’s son Armaan Khan also rejected the invitation to Dhaka. He also made it clear that he does not want to step into Bangladesh full of jihadists who hate music.”
