Top Gun and Batman Forever Star Val Kilmer Died at the age of 65 due to pneumonia

Val Kilmer Death: Actor Val Kilmer, who became popular from top guns and Batman Forever, has died at the age of 65. His daughter Mercedes Kilmar has confirmed the actor’s death from the New York Times. The cause of the actor’s death is said to be pneumonia.

Kilmer had to face throat cancer for many years, due to which his ability to speak was affected. Despite his health issues, he was very active in the industry. According to the deadline, he made a memorable comeback in the top gun: Maveric (2022) as a memorable comeback.

Kilmer’s film career
Born in Los Angeles, Kilmer studied at Juiliard and started his career in theater before going to the film. He got recognition from comedy films like Top Secret (1984) and Real Genius (1985) in the 1980s. But he got success from the top gun (1986). In this film, he played the role of Lieutenant Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazanski with Tom Cruise. The film was a super-duper hit, it gave him recognition as a Hollywood star. Kilmer received a lot of praise for his performance in Willow (1988) and Oliver Stone’s The Doors (1991).

In the 1990s, Kilmer played several high-profile roles. She played the role of Dock Holiday in Tombstone (1993), which became one of her most memorable roles. He also appeared in True Romance (1993) and Heat (1995) along with Al Pachino and Robert de Niro. In 1995, Kilmer replaced Michael Keaton as Batman at Batman Forever. While the film was a commercial hit, the critics gave it a mixed review. Kilmer also worked in films like The St. (1997), The Salon Sea (2002) and Kis Kis Bang Bang (2005). He was also fond of acting in theater, writing and One Man Play Citizen Twain.

Kilmer became a victim of throat cancer in 2015
In 2015, Kilmer came to know about throat cancer, causing a procedure to be done and his vocal creards were damaged. Using his previous video footage and son’s narration, he described his health journey in the 2021 documentary Val. Top Gun: His return as Iceman in Maveric was an emotional moment, Tom Kruz said, “I was crying, I got emotional.”

Kilmer married British co-star Joan Whali from whom his two children are Mercedes and Jack. Kilmer was divorced from Jolan.
