Toyota Motor Corporation has finally unveiled its new Land Cruiser FJ. The company presented it at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, where a huge crowd of people gathered to see this new SUV. The new Land Cruiser FJ is being called the “baby Land Cruiser” as it sits below the LC 250 series, making it the most affordable SUV in the Land Cruiser lineup.
Actually, the story of Land Cruiser starts from 1951, and now this model has evolved through several generations – after the LC 300, 250 and 70 series, the new FJ Cruiser is a modern version of the same legacy, which is famous for its durability, reliable performance and off-road capability.
Design
- The design of the new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ has been prepared with a modern touch while maintaining the old Land Cruiser style. Its boxy and rugged look makes it a true off-roader. At the front, the small rectangular grille, LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs and the powerful front bumper give a strong identity to the SUV. Toyota has also offered this SUV with a customization pack, which will offer the option of classic round headlights – reminiscent of the old FJ Cruiser. The large front and rear bumpers have been designed in such a way that they can be easily replaced in case of any damage.

- The interior of the new Land Cruiser FJ is a combination of modern technology and functional design. As soon as you sit inside, you see a large touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster, which matches the Land Cruiser 250 a lot. Off-road controls are provided on the center console, while enough physical buttons and dials have been placed to make driving easy. The seats are made from strong and durable materials so that they remain comfortable for long hours even on tough off-road rides. Its cabin offers a great balance of luxury and rugged character.
Engine and Performance
- In the new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, the company has provided a 2.7-litre 2TR-FE four-cylinder petrol engine, which generates power of 161 bhp and torque of 246 Nm. A 6-speed Super ECT automatic gearbox has been paired with this engine. Power is sent to all four wheels through a part-time 4WD system, allowing the SUV to maneuver smoothly on all types of terrains. Its wheelbase is 2,580 mm, which is about 270 mm shorter than the Land Cruiser 250, hence it is being called a “compact off-roader”. This setup makes it suitable for both city and trail driving.

- The new Land Cruiser FJ measures 4,575 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, 1,960 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,580 mm. These dimensions make it the most compact SUV in the Land Cruiser lineup. Although small in size, its ground clearance, strong body structure, and 4×4 system make it as capable as larger models. Overall, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is an SUV that offers a great blend of classic design, modern technology and off-road performance, making it one of the hottest “compact off-roaders” in the future.
