Temporary changes have been made in the traffic system in Delhi due to preparations for the Republic Day Parade. Due to the rehearsals to be held on the duty route on 17, 19, 20 and 21 January, traffic restrictions will remain in force at many major intersections. Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to the common people to plan their journey in advance and adopt alternative routes.

The rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade in Delhi will be held on the duty path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate. The route of the parade will start from Vijay Chowk and will continue till C-Hexagon via the duty path. During this period, there will be special control on traffic to ensure uninterrupted movement of the parade.

There will be traffic restrictions at these intersections

During the rehearsal days, from 10.15 am to 12.30 pm, traffic will be completely restricted on Duty Path-Rafi Marg, Duty Path-Janpath, Duty Path-Man Singh Road and Duty Path-C-Hexagon Crossing. Apart from this, the duty road from Vijay Chowk to India Gate will remain closed for general traffic.

Crowd may increase due to diversion

Due to the implementation of traffic diversion, there may be a jam situation on the nearby roads. According to the traffic police, there is a possibility of increased pressure on alternative routes. In such a situation, drivers have been appealed to maintain patience, follow traffic rules and follow the instructions of the deployed policemen.

Alternative route for those going from north to south

Drivers traveling from North to South Delhi or vice versa can use the Ring Road via Sarai Kale Khan, IP flyover and Rajghat. Apart from this, routes like Lajpat Rai Marg, Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg and Sardar Patel Marg have been suggested.

Option for those going from east to west

People going from East Delhi to West Delhi or in the opposite direction can take the help of Ring Road, Bhairon Road, Mathura Road, Lodhi Road, Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Panchsheel Marg and Vande Mataram Marg. Travel is also possible via ISBT, Mall Road and Azadpur.

Advice for those visiting Connaught Place and Central Secretariat

Drivers going from South Delhi to Connaught Place or Central Secretariat should use Mother Teresa Crescent, Park Street, Mandir Marg or Baba Kharak Singh Marg. An alternative route can be adopted from Ring Road via Sardar Patel Marg.
