38 year old K. Lalremruata was playing for Wainganui Raiders Cricket Club in a local second division tournament. According to the information, he was returning to the pavilion after batting, when suddenly his health deteriorated. He fell on the field itself. After that he was declared dead. Initial information states that he died due to a heart attack.

Of. Lalremruata was a well-known name of Mizoram cricket. He represented Mizoram twice in Ranji Trophy. Apart from this, he had also played seven matches in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Along with domestic cricket, he continued to play for many clubs at the local level and remained an inspiration for the youth.
Mizoram Cricket Association expressed grief
Mizoram Cricket Association (MCA) has expressed deep condolences on his demise. The association said in its statement that this is an irreparable loss for Mizoram cricket. MCA said, “We express our deepest condolences to the family of K. Lalremruata. May God give them the strength to bear this loss.” According to the association, Lalremruata has always been a disciplined and dedicated player.
Reaction of minister and sports world
Mizoram Sports and Youth Services Minister Lalghinglova Hamar has also expressed deep condolence over this incident. He said that Lalremruata was having trouble breathing during the match and after that he collapsed. The minister said, “It is extremely sad to lose a player like this during a cricket match. My thoughts are with his family, friends and the cricket community.”
