Even though the demand for SUVs is continuously increasing in India, the magic of sedan cars has still not diminished. In fact, customers who give priority to comfort, premium features and smooth driving still prefer buying sedans. In September 2025, companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda, Volkswagen and Skoda performed better in the sedan segment. During this, Maruti Suzuki Dzire once again proved that it remains the first choice of Indian customers.

king of sedans

  • In September 2025, Maruti Suzuki Dzire achieved tremendous growth in the segment. The company sold 20,038 units last month, whereas only 10,853 units were sold in September last year. That means a spectacular increase of about 85% was recorded in sales. The price of Dzire starts at ₹ 6.25 lakh (ex-showroom) and it comes with many premium features like wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 9-inch touchscreen, wireless charger, sunroof, 360° camera and 6 airbags. Due to these features, this car remains the most popular in its segment.

Hyundai Aura

  • Hyundai Aura stood second, which continues to be the choice of budget customers. Its 5,387 units were sold in September 2025, which is 21% more than last year. People especially like Aura because of its CNG variant, low maintenance cost and compact design. The company has also updated its wireless connectivity and safety features, making it better in the family car segment.

Honda Amaze

  • Honda Amaze stood at third place, which is known for its quality and driving comfort. However, this time there was a slight decline in its sales. 2,610 units were sold in September 2025, whereas last year this figure was 2,820 units. Nevertheless, Amaze remains a trusted sedan among customers due to its solid build quality, spacious cabin and smooth performance.

Volkswagen Virtus

  • Volkswagen Virtus stood at fourth place in September 2025. During this period, the company sold 1,648 units, which is slightly less than last year. Virtus is for customers who want European styling, powerful engines and strong build quality. Its turbocharged engine and stylish design make it different from other cars.

Skoda Slavia

  • Skoda Slavia may have seen a slight decline in sales, but has retained its place in the top-5 list. Its 1,339 units were sold in September 2025. Slavia is being liked by the customers due to its premium ride quality, advanced safety features and turbo engine.

Sale of remaining models

  • Even outside the top-5, some sedan cars performed better. 966 units of Tata Tigor, 725 units of Hyundai Verna, 496 units of Honda City and 137 units of Toyota Camry were sold. At the same time, no sales of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz were recorded this time, which indicates that the company is now focusing on its new generation sedan.
  • Let us tell you that the sales report of September 2025 clearly shows that despite the SUV trend, Maruti Suzuki Dzire remains the first choice of Indian customers. Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze are attracting budget customers, while Virtus and Slavia are maintaining a strong hold in the premium segment.
