A student from Tripura was stabbed to death in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. MBA student Angel Chakma was seriously injured in this violent incident committed by drunken youth. After the incident on December 9, 2025, he struggled for life and death in the ICU for 17 days, but he died during treatment.
What is the whole incident?
This entire incident happened on 9 December 2025 between 6 to 7 pm in Selaqui area of Dehradun. Angel Chakma, a final year MBA student at Jigyasa University, had gone out for shopping with his younger brother Michael Chakma. Meanwhile, some youth reached there and started making objectionable comments about her appearance. It is alleged that the attackers used racial words like Nepali, Chinese, Chinki and Momos.
Fatal attack on protest
Angel’s brother Michael Chakma told in a written statement to the police that the accused were under the influence of alcohol. When they protested against the racial abuses, he first started beating the two brothers. Michael was hit hard on the head, due to which he got injured. After this the accused attacked Angel with knives. Angel was stabbed several times in the neck and stomach, causing him to fall on the road. While leaving, the attackers also threatened to kill both the brothers.
Status of treatment, arrest and investigation
Seriously injured Angel was immediately admitted to the hospital, where he was kept in the ICU. Doctors tried to save his life for 17 days, but ultimately he died. Selaqui police station has so far arrested five accused in this case. According to the police, the accused also include a student from Manipur. However, the main accused of this incident is still absconding and the search for him is going on. But it has become a serious matter for students studying from far away places.
