Trump again threatened India on buying oil from Russia, said- ‘Profit earning from oil deal, will increase the tariff huge increase’

US President Donald Trump has once again threatened to increase the tariff to India on Monday (4 August 2025). Trump has accused India of buying oil from Russia in large quantities and selling it for huge profits. He said that India not only buy oil from Russia, but also makes a big profit by selling it in the open market.

Trump told why will you increase the tariff?

Trump said, “India does not care about how many people are killing Russia’s war machine in Ukraine. That is why I am going to increase the fees paid to America from India.”

Trump imposed 25% tariff on India before the deadline

Last week, US President Trump announced a fine of 25 per cent tariffs on Indian imports and a fine on purchasing oil from Russia. Before the August 1 deadline, Trump imposed so much tariff on India. According to the order issued by the US last week, India will be charged 25 percent. However, additional fine declared for military equipment and energy purchase from Russia is not mentioned in this order.

In response to Trump’s tariff, India said that possible action will be taken in the interest of the country. In the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that the talk with the US was about 10 to 15 percent tariffs.

Why India is buying oil from Russia- Marco Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently said that the Russian oil that India is buying is helping Moscow in the Ukraine War. He had said that Trump is angry with India because when there are so many options for buying oil, then why is India buying from stunning.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday (1 August 2025), “India and the US partnership has passed through many changes and challenges from time to time. We are focused on our bilateral commitments and we are confident that the relationship will be strong even further. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said on the India-Russian energy relations on the basis of global conditions and markets.”
