Trump Tariff: Enraged over Greenland, Trump imposed tariffs on 8 European countries, America’s former NSA called it absurd, know what he said?

US President Donald Trump wants to capture Greenland at any cost, but Denmark has said that it will go to any extent in this regard. Almost all the countries of Europe have announced their support to Denmark, due to which Trump has become nervous. He has announced to impose 10 percent tariff on eight big countries of Europe. However, Trump’s former National Security Advisor (NSA) has called it absurd.

John Bolton, who was NSA in the Trump regime, said that Greenland is undoubtedly very important for the West, I have been saying this for a long time. He said Trump’s recent absurd rhetoric of imposing tariffs on our own allies in exchange for annexing Greenland has made it very difficult to achieve security and stability in the Arctic.

EU foreign policy chief also reacted

At the same time, European Union’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has also given a statement on Trump’s tariff threats. He said that China and Russia would be taking a lot of advantage at this time. They are the ones who benefit the most from divisions among allied countries. Kaja Kailash said in gestures that if the unity of the Western countries weakens, it will directly benefit those forces who are challenging the global system. He said that if there is any threat to the security of Greenland then this issue can be resolved only within NATO. The EU leader said imposing tariffs would impoverish both Europe and the US, undermine shared prosperity and deepen the rift in trans-Atlantic relations.

No threats can affect us in Ukraine and Greenland: Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Trump’s tariff threat that France is committed to the sovereignty and independence of nations. He said, ‘Neither in Ukraine, nor in Greenland, nor anywhere else in such a situation, any threat or intimidation can influence us.’

Describing the tariff threats as ‘unacceptable’, Macron said that if these threats come true, European countries will respond in a united and coordinated manner. They will defend European sovereignty. Macron said that France is involved in the exercises taking place in Greenland along with Denmark because it is related to the security of the Arctic and Europe’s borders.

What did Britain’s PM Starmer say?

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has termed the tariff threats as completely wrong. He said that Greenland is a part of Denmark and its future depends only on the decisions of the people of Greenland and Denmark. He further said that the security of the Arctic is important for all NATO allies and everyone should work together to deal with the Russian threat, but imposing tariffs on NATO allies who are working for collective security is completely wrong.

Trump threatened to impose 25 percent tariff

Donald Trump had announced in Truth Social post that 10 percent additional tariff will be imposed on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Finland. He has said that if there is no agreement regarding Greenland, then this tariff will be increased to 25% from June 1, 2026.

The US President wrote, ‘For many years we have given subsidies to Denmark and all the countries of the European Union without taking tariffs or any kind of payment. After centuries it is time for Denmark to give back. World peace is at stake! China and Russia want Greenland. Denmark can’t do anything about it. They currently have two dogsleds for safety. One of these has been added recently.
