Trump threatens Nigeria with airstrike over attack on Christians, China reacts

China on Tuesday (November 4, 2025) protested against US President Donald Trump’s threat to take military action against Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians. China supported the Nigerian government in taking the country’s people forward on the path of development in line with national conditions.

Trump threatened Nigeria with action

Trump had said on Saturday that if the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the US will immediately stop all aid to that West African country and may also take military action to eliminate Islamic terrorists.

When asked about Trump’s threat, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said, “The Nigerian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement saying that the US claims do not reflect the current realities of Nigeria. The government is committed to fighting terrorism, strengthening inter-religious harmony, and protecting the lives and rights of all its people.”

China protested against America

Mao Ning said that as a comprehensive strategic partner, China firmly supports the Nigerian government in leading its people on a development path in line with national conditions. He said, “China opposes interference by any country in the internal affairs of other countries under the pretext of religion or human rights and opposes the arbitrary use of sanctions and threats of force.”

Asked about reports of Venezuela demanding missiles and drones following 12 US attacks on boats, Mao said China opposes the use of force in the name of fighting drug traffickers. Mao said, “We hope that the United States will carry out normal law enforcement and judicial activities within the bilateral and multilateral legal framework.” However, he did not disclose whether China would help Venezuela with military equipment.
