Trump will reduce the tariff to 20 percent… Trade deal is going to happen between America and India, claims this big foreign firm

Foreign brokerage firm Nomura has given a big update on the India-US trade deal. The firm has estimated that the 50 percent US tariff applicable on India may be revised to only 20 percent. Six rounds of talks have taken place between India and America regarding the trade deal, but no final decision has been taken yet. However, US President Donald Trump has said many times that a positive deal is going to happen between the two countries.

Nomura said that the outcome of the trade agreement between America and India still remains uncertain. The firm says that despite positive signals from both the countries, the agreement has not been signed yet. However, the firm has expressed confidence that soon a deal will be reached between India and America and the American tariff imposed on India will be reduced from 50 percent to around 20 percent. The foreign brokerage firm has also said that the stock market is hopeful that a trade deal will be reached between the two countries by the end of the year.

Nomura has also changed its estimate regarding India’s GDP growth rate. It has increased the growth rate from 7 percent to 7.5 percent for fiscal year 2026, but has maintained the 25 basis points cut for December. Recently the Finance Ministry has said that India has grown with a GDP growth rate of 8.2 percent from July to September.

America has imposed 50 percent tariff on Indian exports. After assuming power in January, Donald Trump had imposed heavy tariffs first on China and then on India, after which it was believed that it could have a big impact on India’s economy. However, big institutions like IMF had said that American tariffs will not be able to affect India’s economy much. The firm estimated that India’s economy would remain stable. Now the whole world is surprised to see this growth rate of India.
