TTP claims – Major attack on Pakistani army in South Waziristan, 25 soldiers killed

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for a major attack against the Pakistani Army. The organization has claimed that its fighters attacked a Pakistani Army camp in South Waziristan area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 25 Pakistani soldiers were killed and eight were injured in this attack. However, till now the Pakistani Army or any independent source has not officially confirmed this attack.

TTP released the video and claimed
TTP-affiliated organization The Voice of Khorasan has released a video and statement of this attack on Tuesday. In the video, TTP said that it attacked a Pakistani Army post on Monday night. During this period a Pakistani drone was also destroyed. TTP claims that it has also captured this military post.

Increasing tension between Pak government and TTP
This attack has taken place at a time when the Pakistan government has taken a tough stance against TTP. On Monday, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had said that the government will not hold talks with TTP under any circumstances. He said that Pakistan will communicate only with the Afghan Taliban, but not with terrorist organizations.

Long story of Pakistan-TTP conflict
TTP has been attacking the Pakistani Army for the last several years, especially in the areas bordering Afghanistan. Pakistan alleges that the Afghan Taliban is giving shelter and support to TTP. Due to this, relations between the two countries are continuously deteriorating.

Tension increased due to recent attacks
Recently, the Pakistani Army conducted an airstrike inside Afghanistan targeting TTP chief Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud. In response to this, Mehsud had released a video and said that he was alive and would take revenge from the Pakistan Army. Since then the tension between the two sides has increased further.
