The US has a 35 percent of Canada, which has a share of about 12.6 percent in American imports and has imposed 25 percent tariffs on Mexico. In 2024, the US imported about $ 221 billion food products, out of which Trump’s tariff came into force at 74 percent ($ 163 billion). The US Top-5 Food Exotters include Mexico, Canada, European Union, Brazil and China, which has a 62 percent stake in Total Food Import in the US.

Equal goods from China and India

The US has imposed a 30 percent tariff on China, while China is imported the most Apple juice and frozen fish in the US. The US has imposed 25 percent tariffs on India, while India has a massive export of shrimp fish in American markets.

According to government data, in 2023-24, India sent 17,81,602 metric tonnes of seafood (Rs 60,523.89 crore) to the US. These included 2,97,571 metric tonnes of frozen shrimp. The US has imposed 50 percent tariff on Brazil, while coffee, meat, orange juice is imported from there. There is a lot of demand for ‘Brazilian coffee’ in America. In such a situation, people will now have to pay a higher price to apply this sip.

Apart from these, Butter from Ireland, coco powder from the Netherlands, rice from Thailand, cashew and pepper from Vietnam, Palm Oil from Indonesia and cocoa butter, milk from New Zealand, grapes from Chile, Lamb Meat from Australia, Coffee from Columbia.
