Turkey’s entry into the alliance of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan! Will we together create ‘Islamic NATO’, is India in danger?

Turkey is now in talks to join a strong defense agreement made between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. This agreement is like Article 5 of NATO, in which an attack on one member will be considered an attack on all. Many people are calling it ‘Islamic NATO’ or ‘Muslim NATO’.

Turkey’s entry into mutual defense agreement

According to Bloomberg report, this agreement was first signed between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in September 2025, which is called Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement. Now Turkey is trying to join it and the talks have advanced a lot. The possibility of an agreement is said to be very high.

What will the three countries give in this alliance?

  • Saudi Arabia: Will give a lot of money and financial support. Saudi has a lot of income from oil, which will help in running this alliance.
  • Pakistan: Will provide nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles and a large army. Pakistan is the only Islamic country in the world which has nuclear weapons.
  • Turkish: Will provide strong military experience, domestic defense industry and modern weapons. Turkey is a member of NATO and has the second largest army after America. Turkey is building corvette warships for Pakistan, upgrading F-16 fighter jets, sharing drone technology and is talking about including both in the fifth-generation fighter jet program.

Nihat Ali Ozkan, strategist of Ankara-based think tank TEPAV, said that America is now focusing more on its own and Israel’s interests, so these countries are creating a new way to decide new friends and enemies. The intentions of the three countries are found in parts of South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

The three countries came closer than before

  • All three countries are concerned about Iran (Shia dominated), they prefer talks with Iran, not war.
  • He supports a stable Sunni government in Syria and the state of Palestine.
  • This week, the first naval meeting of the three countries took place in Ankara, which has been confirmed by the Turkish Defense Ministry.

What is India’s reaction to this alliance?

India has kept an eye on this ‘Islamic NATO’ plan. This development is important because Turkey is a long-time member of NATO. Operation Sindoor took place between India and Pakistan in May 2025, in which Turkey openly supported Pakistan. After that clash there was ceasefire between the two countries.

This alliance is yet to be fully formed, but if Turkey joins, it could change the security of South Asia and the Middle East. Experts believe that this alliance is mainly for Iran and regional challenges, and not for India or Israel. But India is cautious because Pakistan and Turkey have already been speaking against India on the Kashmir issue.
