Turkey on Kashmir: Turki President Rechhep Tayyab Erdogan has once again expressed his arbitration to support Pakistan by supporting Pakistan. He made this comment during a conversation with Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on 17 May, in which he said that the Turki is ready to contribute to “human rights-based solutions” by creating a “balance between the two countries”. However, India’s stand is clear that Kashmir is an internal matter of the country and no third party can have any role in it.
Pakistan will talk only on two issues: India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attitude is very clear. He has already bluntly said that terrorism and conversation cannot run together. According to India, there are now only two issues left for talks with Pakistan. The first end of Pakistan sponsored terrorism and the second return of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). In this way, the offering of Erdogan’s mediation is not acceptable for India.
Turk’s ‘friendship’ from Pakistan
There is a serious resentment in India about the recent tension between India and Pakistan, the role of Turki during Operation Sindoor. Turki provided advanced drone technology and weapons to Pakistan, which were used against India. The demand for boycott of Turki products in India is now gaining momentum. This is the same Turki, which India first sent help under the ‘Operation Friend’ during the 2023 devastating earthquake.
Attempted internationalization of Kashmir issue
Erdogan said in a statement after a conversation, ‘We discussed Kashmir in detail with the Pakistani PM and found ways of solution. We want a solution that has participation of international organizations. Erdogan has seen this fact as an attempt to violate sovereignty. India has been repeating the stance for a long time that there is no international interference on Kashmir. This is a bilateral issue that will be resolved only between India and Pakistan.
Erdogan has been spewing poison against India
This is not the first time Erdogan has commented on the Kashmir issue. Earlier, in the United Nations General Assembly, he had given a statement about Kashmir, on which India had expressed strong opposition. India had taken a tough stance, saying that Turkas should focus on their domestic issues such as the status, human rights violations and freedom of the press, not to interfere in India’s internal affairs.
