In the investigation of the blast that took place outside the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday (November 10), the agencies are now hoping to get the most important clue from the two mobile phones which the accused Dr. Umar Un Nabi was last seen with. Investigators believe that if these phones are found, it can be known who were in contact with Omar, who led him, funded him and was this attack a part of some bigger conspiracy?
These two phones are the biggest link in the investigation
Umar was seen with two mobile phones in the CCTV footage of a medical store in Haryana. Since that time, these phones have become the biggest basis of investigation. According to officials, five mobile numbers of Delhi, Faridabad and Mewat associated with Omar have been identified, but his two new numbers used between October 30 and November 10 have not been found yet. These are considered to be the biggest missing links.
Phone and number were changed in October itself
Investigation has revealed that Umar had switched off both his old numbers on October 30 itself. This was the day when his close associate Dr. Muzammil Shakeel was caught. Officials believe that as soon as the news of the arrest reached Umar, he threw away all his old traceable phones and got two new prepaid numbers on a fake identity.
Last 36 hours movement tracked
In the last one week, NIA, Delhi Police Special Cell and J&K Police have tracked Omar’s movements minute by minute in the last 36 hours. Every location from Faridabad to Nuh, then to Delhi is being matched with CCTV footage, mobile tower dumps, chat data and testimony of witnesses.
The most important thing is that after the evening of 9 November, Umar is not seen holding a phone in any footage, be it Faiz Ilahi Masjid or the parking lot of the Red Fort. It is suspected that he handed over the phones to someone or destroyed them.
Big revelation made in investigation
Investigation has also revealed that on November 10, at 2.30 pm, Umar reached Turkman Gate Mosque and remained alone for 15 minutes. The employees said that he did not talk to anyone, but the police feel that the missing data is also a kind of evidence. There is a possibility that the phones may have been given to someone here. Therefore, a list of every person present in the mosque at that time is being prepared and interrogated.
Withdraw Rs 76,000 from ATM
A big clue was found from Firozpur Jhirka in Nuh, where Umar was seen withdrawing money from the ATM at 1:07 pm on November 10. The guard said that Umar pretended to have a medical emergency and withdrew around ₹76,000 twice. At the same time, officials say that this was his last major preparation before the attack.
9mm cartridges found near the blast site
Police have found two live and one empty 9mm cartridges from the blast site. This ammunition is generally used by security forces. Although no direct evidence has been found that Omar had a weapon, it is still suspected that he may have thrown a weapon on the road, or it may be related to the activity of some other person.
Raids intensified in many cities
Investigation teams are now continuously raiding mosques, rented rooms, medical shops, coaching centers and eating places in Faridabad, Nuh, Gurugram and Ballabhgarh. Special scrutiny is being done to identify new tenants and outsiders.
Now what next?
According to the investigating officers, it is clear that Umar used to change SIM continuously. Signal used encrypted apps like Briar. He used to talk in code words and used different methods to hide the conspiracy. An officer said that if those two phones were found, the whole story of the conspiracy would come out.”
