UAE defeated Oman, can still make a place in Super four, know the next match

India, the strong contender for the title, qualified for the super four phases of the Asia Cup after a match of 42 runs on Oman here on Monday. India is currently at the top of Group A with four points from two wins and will play against Oman (zero points in two matches) on 19 September.

The match between Pakistan and UAE on September 17 will decide who makes a place in Super four as a second team from Group A apart from India. Pakistan and UAE have two points each in two matches each. The victory against Oman is expected to make a place in UAE’s Super Four.

After the half -centuries of captain Mohammad Wasim and opener Alishan Sharafu, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), thanks to the brilliant bowling of Junaid Siddiqui (four wickets for 23 runs), kept the hope of defeating Oman by 42 runs to make a place in Super four.

Wasim scored 69 off 54 balls and he was out in the last over. At the same time, Sharafu played an innings of 51 runs off 38 balls and took the UAE to 172 runs for five wickets.

This score was enough for the victory of the domestic team and the victory against Pakistan on Wednesday can bring them to the next phase of the continental tournament, provided India defeat Oman in their last group match.

Oman’s entire team was reduced to 130 runs in 18.4 overs. Siddiqui dismissed both Oman openers Aamir Kalim (02) and captain Jatinder Singh (20), then the team scored 23 runs.

Left -arm spinner Haider Ali (two for 22) again took two wickets, causing Oman’s score to 50 wickets in the seventh over and the team was in trouble.

Aryan Bisht and Vinayak Shukla tried to handle the innings, making Oman scored 74 for five in 10 overs.

After adding 38 runs for the sixth wicket with wicketkeeper Shukla, Bisht was bowled by Muhammad Jawadullah (two wickets for 18 runs). Jawadullah then took the wicket of Jiten Ramanandi (13).

Then Siddiqui also increased the number of wickets, which made the UAE closer to victory. Earlier, the left -handed medium fast bowler for Oman, Jiten Ramanandi took two wickets for 24 runs in four overs.

Wasim also got a life in his innings, whose catch was left by Hammad Mirza in Deep. The UAE scored 83 runs in ten overs without any loss.

Ramanandi broke this partnership by dismissing Sharafu. Oman was defeated by Pakistan in the first match and India was defeated by India.
