UAE President is visiting India tomorrow, know on which issues he will talk?

UAE President India Visit: President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is going to come to Delhi on Monday. It is expected that his visit will further strengthen the relationship between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The friendship between India and UAE is very deep. In the past few years, both the countries together have taken many important steps regarding strategic partnership in many different areas like trade, investment, technology, energy, education and culture, connectivity.

What is CEPA?

The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed in 2022 is an example of this. CEPA is a comprehensive trade agreement between two or more countries, which is not limited to just trade in goods, but also includes exchange of services, intelligence, investment. Under this agreement, either the tariff is reduced or the tariff is removed completely.

This obviously promotes exports. In the first six months of 2025, trade between the two countries in all categories except oil reached $37.6 billion, which is 34 percent more than a year ago. Both India and UAE are aiming to take non-oil business to $100 billion by 2030.

UAE is India’s seventh largest investor

This is the result of the CEPA agreement, due to which tariffs on thousands of goods have been reduced. This is the reason why Indian exports have got a boost in the categories of engineering, pharmaceuticals and electronics in UAE. UAE is the seventh largest investor in India. Since 2000, UAE has invested more than $22 billion in India. In recent times, with the Rupee-Dirham trade settlement and the approval of India’s UPI digital payment in the UAE, the dependence on the US dollar in trade between the two countries seems to be reducing.

UAE supplies oil and liquefied natural gas to India. Defense and security relations between the two countries have also strengthened. In this sequence, recently Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi had met the Commander of the UAE Army. During this, both emphasized on increasing positive military cooperation, regular joint exercises and furthering bilateral defense and maritime cooperation.
