The news of disappearance of 4 newly elected corporators of Shiv Sena (UBT) has come to light in Kalyan-Dombivli, after which, in view of security concerns, their missing complaint has been lodged at Kolsewadi Police Station. Keeping in mind the seriousness of the matter, police officials have started examining the CCTV footage and call detail records, and a search operation is also being conducted to find the missing corporators.
What is the whole matter?
After the election results, political turmoil has intensified in Kalyan-Dombivli adjacent to Mumbai. 4 out of 11 newly elected councilors of Uddhav Thackeray group are out of contact since January 16. The party claims that these councilors are unreachable from the very next day after the election results are declared. After waiting for several days and efforts for internal contact failing, it is now being linked to a security and political conspiracy. Shiv Sena (UBT) has accused the police of being lax and termed the entire matter as serious.
Who is the missing councilor?
The councilors reported missing include Madhur Mhatre, Kirti Dhone, Rahul Kot and Swapnil Kane. All of them had won the recently held KDMC elections on Shiv Sena (UBT) ticket. According to the information, neither their mobile phones are switched on nor they are present at their homes for the last 10 days.
Party leaders say that several attempts were made to contact these councilors through phone calls, messages and whips, but every attempt failed. Especially two councilors of Kalyan East, Madhur Mhatre and Advocate Kirti Dhone, are missing soon after the election results, due to which the suspicion is deepening.
Posters, warnings and movement preparations
After the disappearance of the councilors, Shiv Sena (UBT) has adopted an aggressive stance. Party officials have given a written complaint at Kolsewadi police station demanding investigation of CCTV footage and call records. It is alleged that the police has not taken any concrete action till now. Regarding this, senior leader and MP Sanjay Raut had openly warned that if action is not taken soon, there will be agitation on the streets.
On his instructions, posters of ‘Corporator Missing’ have been put up in major squares, roads and public places of Kalyan East. Photographs of the four councilors have been printed in these posters and an appeal has been made to the general public that if they get any kind of information, they should immediately contact the city office or nearest branch of Shiv Sena (UBT). The party says that pressure and agitation will continue until the councilors are identified.
