The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared 54 private universities in the states as defaulters. Notice was issued to these universities because they did not make public the necessary information on their website. Due to not giving information, it was difficult for students and parents to get the right information about universities.

UGC Secretary Professor Manish Joshi made it clear that students should have complete knowledge of university, college or higher education institute before admission. This includes the university’s recognition, the name of the course, the medium of education, the evaluation system, the number of students in UG, PG and PhD, off-campus placement, dropout rate, qualifications of teachers, sports facilities and reservation.

The UGC has warned that if these universities ignore the instructions, more strict action can be taken against it. Officials say that higher education regulator has been monitoring and tightening private universities in the last few months. In July, 23 other institutions were also warned on violation of rules.

What does this notice matter to students

The UGC has warned these universities to take corrective steps immediately. If the institutes do not upload the necessary information soon, then the Commission can take more strict action against them.

This notice is very important for those students who are going to enroll in these universities or are already studying. Not having complete information on the university website can cause problems for students in the decision. Therefore, students and parents are advised to check all the information on the website of the institute before admission.
