National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important update for lakhs of candidates appearing in the UGC NET December 2025 examination. NTA has uploaded the provisional answer key of UGC NET December 2025 today i.e. on 14 January 2026 on the official website ugcnet.nta.nic.in. With this, the way has also opened for the candidates to see their recorded answers and get an idea of ​​the probable marks. This is considered to be a news of great relief for the candidates who have been waiting for this answer key for a long time.

UGC NET December 2025 exam was conducted between 31 December 2025 to 7 January 2026. This examination was conducted in computer-based mode at various examination centers across the country. This time the examination was conducted for a total of 85 subjects, in which a large number of students participated. Since the end of the examination, candidates were waiting for the release of the answer key, so that they could accurately assess their performance.

After the release of the provisional answer key, candidates can now view their question paper and the answers chosen by them. This will help them understand how many questions they have got correct and how many marks they can expect to get. This process is especially important for those students who are preparing for Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship.

If any candidate feels that any answer given in the answer key is wrong, then he can also lodge an objection on it. NTA has also provided the facility to challenge the answer key. Candidates can lodge objections from 14th January 2026 to 11.50 pm on 17th January 2026. No objection of any kind will be accepted after the stipulated time.

To lodge objection, candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs 200 per question. This fee will be non-refundable, that is, even if the objection is found true, the fee will not be refunded. Fees can be paid through online mode only. Candidates can deposit the fees using credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI. No objection will be valid without fee payment.

NTA has made it clear that all the objections lodged by the candidates will be investigated by a team of subject experts. This team will look at every objection carefully and if the answer to any question is found wrong, it will be corrected. The revised answer key will be equally applicable to all candidates. On the basis of this final answer key, the result of UGC NET December 2025 will be prepared.

The process of downloading the answer key has also been kept quite easy. Candidates first go to the official website of UGC NET ugcnet.nta.nic.in. A link related to the provisional answer key will appear on the homepage, which will have to be clicked. After this the candidates will have to enter their application number and date of birth or password. As soon as the captcha code is filled and submitted, the question paper, entered answer and provisional answer key will appear on the screen. If the candidates wish, they can download it as a PDF file and also take a printout for future reference.
