There is an uproar regarding UGC Bill 2026. Demonstrations are taking place across the country. Reactions are coming from different parties. Meanwhile, National President of Janashakti Janata Dal and Lalu Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav has also given his reaction on this. On Tuesday (January 27, 2026), he issued a statement from his X handle. Whatever he had to say on this was told in points.

Tej Pratap Yadav said, “As per the order of the Supreme Court, the “Promotion of Equity in Higher Education Institutions Regulations, 2026″ law is a historic step taken by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in the interest of the students of poor, Dalit, backward and extremely backward communities. These rules are a very commendable step to stop caste discrimination in universities and colleges as well as setting the target of forming an equity committee in every university and college as per the rules.”

Tej Pratap Yadav writes in his post, “According to this law, this committee will hear the complaints of SC, ST and OBC students and resolve them within the stipulated time. This law will strengthen the equality and rights mentioned in the Constitution by providing equality to the students studying in universities and colleges.”

Tej Pratap Yadav expressed support

Tej Pratap Yadav has welcomed and supported the UGC bill. He said, “We and our party Janashakti Janata Dal welcome and support this historic law brought by the UGC keeping in mind the interests of the students of this Dalit, tribal and backward society. At the same time, we would also like to say that those people who are linking this law with Sanatan, perhaps those ignorant people do not know that Dalit, tribal and backward society also comes under Sanatan and they are also our brothers and sisters.”
