News of a series of drone attacks on Russia’s oil infrastructure has come to light on the night of New Year’s Eve and January 1. According to Russian media, fires broke out at the Lyudinovo oil depot in the Kaluga region and the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai. Both bases were targeted by drone attacks, which seems to be intensifying the strategy of attacks on energy infrastructure in the Russia-Ukraine war.
Two separate attacks in Kaluga and Krasnodar
According to reports, the attack on the Lyudinovo oil depot (Kaluga region) occurred on 31 December, just before the New Year countdown, while the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai was targeted after midnight on 1 January. The fire at both places has been confirmed by Russian media and public Telegram channels.
