EPFO on Digilocker: Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has now made its services available on Digilocker App. Due to this, subscribers who use Android smartphones can check PF balance and passbook from anywhere. Apart from this, documents like UAN Card, Pension Payment Order (PPO) and Scheme Certificate can also now access digitally.

Now Umang app will not be needed
Till now you had to go to the UMANG app to see the PF passbook, but on July 17, the EPFO said through a post on X that now we will be able to get all the information directly through Digilocker. However, iOS users still have to use the UMANG app. EPFO gave another update on 16 July, saying that now the verification of UAN (Universal Account Number) can also be done through Face Authentication in the UMANG app. This process is easy, safe and completely digital.
Why is UAN Activation important?
UAN Activation is not only necessary for EPFO services, but it is also mandatory to avail employment linked incentive (ELI) scheme. Under this scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government aims to provide employment and skill training to four crore youth. A budget of Rs 2 lakh crore has also been kept for this.
EPFO has asked its subscribers to activate their UAN and link Aadhaar to the bank account to avail all the services and schemes digitally. If you do not activate UAN, you will not be able to avail many important services of EPFO.
UAN Activation through UMANG app
- Install the Umang app on your mobile and open it.
- Go to ‘EPFO’ service section.
- Click on the option of ‘UAN Activation’.
- Enter your UAN number, name, date of birth and registered mobile number.
- Click ‘Get OTP’ and enter OTP.
- Now choose the option of ‘face authentication’.
- The camera will be turned on the app and your face will be scanned on the screen.
- After verification, your UAN will be activated.
