Fm nirmala sitharaman meets adb president: India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masato Kanda and demanded to cut the funding given to Pakistan. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman raised this demand from the President of ADB on April 22 after the increased tension between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met ADB President Masato Kanda at the annual meeting of the 58th Asian Development Bank (ADB) held at Milan, Eatley on Monday (May 5). Apart from this, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also raised the same demand from Italy’s Finance Minister Giankarlo Georgette.

FM Center’s efforts on economic development in India also discussed

At the same time, during the meeting with ADB President Masato Kanda, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “India is focusing on private sector -led economic growth and is preparing a policy and regulatory ecosystem in the country.”

Growing stress with India can give a shock to Pakistan’s economy

On the other hand, Global Rating Agency Moody’s said in a report on Monday (May 5) that growing stress with India can shock Pakistan’s economy and cause problems in its current fiscal efforts. Apart from this, this tension can also affect the economy associated with other countries of Pakistan, as well as pressure on foreign exchange reserves, which are also very less according to the payment of the next loan.

Stress increased between India and Pakistan after Pahalgam terror attack

This tension between India and Pakistan has increased on 22 April 2025 after a terrorist attack on tourists in Basaron Valley of Pahalgam in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. A total of 26 people including 25 Indian citizens were killed in this terrorist attack. After which India took many big steps against Pakistan.
