Lucknow News: The Uttar Pradesh government has taken the biggest action against the fraud of fake medicines so far. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) department has seized fake medicines worth Rs 30 crore 77 lakh by conducting a raid campaign across the state. During the action, 68 people were arrested, while the licenses of 1166 drug traders have been canceled. Apart from this, licenses of 6 pharmaceutical manufacturing companies and 5 blood banks have also been canceled.

According to the information, 1039 raids were conducted in the entire state in the year 2024-25. In these raids, samples of 13,848 drugs were taken for examination, of which 96 samples were completely fake and 497 under -Human (quality reduction). This action continued to spread in many districts of the state, but the most fake drug business was caught in Lucknow, Agra and Ghaziabad.

Oxytocin injection recovered in STF raids
Oxytocin injections and other fake medicines were recovered in Lucknow with the help of STF. Fake drugs worth Rs 1.36 crore were caught on 5 November 2024 in Agra, while in Ghaziabad on 6 February 2025, a consignment of Narcotics drugs worth 0.9 crore was seized. Fake cosmetic products were also found in large quantities in Bareilly. Apart from this, the department is also cautious in the case of allopathic medicines being sold under the guise of Ayurvedic medicines and 14 suspicious samples are under investigation.

The government says that the purpose of this entire campaign is to ensure the quality of medicines being given to the public. Fake medicines not only cure the disease, but can also prove to be fatal. The central government is also monitoring fake medicines across the country. In the last few years, the fake drug industry has emerged as a serious problem in the country, which threatens the lives of patients.

No place for those selling fake medicines- CM Yogi
CM Yogi Adityanath has clarified that there is no place for those selling fake medicines in Uttar Pradesh. This campaign of the state government will not only protect public health, but there is also a big attack on the drug mafia. The government has announced to intensify such actions in future also. This action has become an example for the whole country.
