UP: Big action on the release of gangster Ravi Kana, Jail Superintendent Vikram Singh Yadav suspended

In Banda, Uttar Pradesh, Jail Superintendent Vikram Singh Yadav has been suspended by the prison administration on charges of negligence. It is alleged that contrary to the court order, Vikram Yadav released gangster Ravi Kana. On which the Gautam Buddha Nagar CJM Court had expressed strong displeasure and sought clarification. After the matter gained momentum, suspension action was taken in the preliminary investigation.

While issuing the order of suspension, Director General Jail PC Meena has accepted the gross negligence of the Jail Superintendent. This action has been taken against Vikram Singh Yadav under Rule 7 of Uttar Pradesh Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 1999, which includes suspension along with departmental inquiry. This action has created a stir in the Banda jail administration.

What is the whole matter?

Let us tell you that accused Ravi Kana was produced in Gautam Buddha Nagar CJM court on B-warrant through video conferencing on January 29. The court approved the remand of Ravi Kana till 2 February 2026. But the jail administration released Ravi Kana at 6:39 pm citing non-availability of police guard. Whereas the warrant information reached on email/Whatsapp at 6:42. On this, CJM considered negligence and sought clarification from the jail superintendent and issued orders for the arrest of the accused.

Jail administration suspended him after investigation

The issue of negligence of the jail administration had echoed till Lucknow. On which Director General Jail PC Meena initially considered the negligence of the Jail Superintendent and action has been taken against him under Rule 7 of Uttar Pradesh Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 1999.

It is clearly stated in the suspension order that Jail Superintendent Vikram Singh Yadav has made a mistake in performing his duty. As a result he was suspended. During the suspension period, he will get the amount of living allowance as per Financial Code Volume-2, Part-2, but not dearness allowance or other allowances. If certificate of being engaged in any other service/business is not given then the allowance can be stopped.
